About Write 2 Education
All children in Africa should have the basic supplies they need to gain a meaningful education. I am so fortunate to have traveled to Africa four times, visiting the countries of South Africa, Botswana, Ghana, Namibia, Kenya, and Madagascar. In each location, I was struck by how warm and welcoming the communities were. I had the opportunity to visit many local schools and taught English to elementary students in rural Ghana. The children's thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm for learning was something I hadn't seen before. However, the schools didn't have enough writing tools and a classroom full of children had to share a few stubby pencils. Write 2 Education is trying to help by supplying pencils to schools in need across Africa.
About The Founder
Hi! My name is Ava Benjamin and I am a high school senior from Boulder, Colorado. Travel has always been an important part of my life and has shaped me into who I am today. After coming home from my trips to Africa, I had a new appreciation for school and all the opportunities it has given me. The children I taught in Ghana left a lasting impression in my heart. I want to make sure that every child has their own pencil and this is why I formed Write 2 Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
